Gallery Hopping at The Beverly Hills Hotel: Cucumber Martinis and Canvas Dreams

I have always admired how The Beverly Hills Hotel treats its hallways like a living museum. They don’t just decorate; they curate. The artwork is constantly rotating, making the halls feel fresh, new, and perpetually inviting—a reminder that a true souvenir isn't just a trinket, but perhaps a piece of art that marks a specific moment in your travels.

This visit, however, was bittersweet. I wasn't welcomed by the photography that had adorned the lobby walls just a year prior. As I walked the halls, I couldn't help but let my imagination wander. Where are those pieces now? Are they telling their story in a new home?

Did someone on vacation enjoy one too many cucumber martinis at the Polo Lounge and make a grand, spontaneous purchase? Did a celebrity, fresh from a hideaway bungalow, send an assistant to secure the perfect memento? Or perhaps an interior designer, scouting for that elusive final touch for a client’s living room, finally found exactly what they were looking for.

Discovering Brennan Vicary

In place of the familiar photography, I found the work of Brennan Vicary. These specific pieces immediately pulled me back to our time in Mexico City. The bold colorways, the abstract landscapes playing on the sunset and the ocean—it felt like a homecoming.

The scale of the work, combined with the rich texture of oil on linen, is striking. There is such an intentional use of color theory here; it doesn't just hang on the wall—it breathes. As I stood there, I started mentally rearranging my own space. I can already see this pair in the "dream LA bungalow" I don’t quite own yet, but where the sun would stream in, the pool would reflect against the walls, and these pieces would play perfectly with the natural themes I’ve always envisioned.

P.S. No trip to the Pink Palace is complete without the fur baby. If you think the humans get the royal treatment, you should see how they spoil the four-legged guests. Gnocchi certainly didn’t mind the "ruff" life of room service and poolside lounging. The Paws-Up Guide to Luxury at The Beverly Hills Hotel – Full guide coming soon. Stay tuned!
